PRELIMINARY PROGRAM
DEVELOPED BY: Lars Søndergaard, Ole de Backer, Stefan Bertog & Victoria Delgado
This workshop will offer contemporary learning, education and interaction on the established position of TAVI in the treatment of severe aortic valve stenosis.
Case-based learning, interactive discussions and debates will help shape the key messages.
There will be 3 sessions focusing on:
(1) State-of-the-art TAVI: case-based learning;
(2) Challenging access for TAVI: case-based learning; and
(3) Life-time management of severe aortic valve stenosis
Join us at CSI Focus TAVI and stay on for the full 4-day program of CSI Frankfurt, featuring a wide array of topics in the field of congenital, structural and valvar heart disease interventions.
State-of-the-art TAVI: case-based learning |
Welcome and learning objectives |
Case presentation |
Procedural plan |
Recorded case with stop-points |
1. Stop point – vascular access and closure devices |
2. Stop point – cerebral embolic protection |
3. Cusp overlap view |
4. Commissural alignment |
5. Vascular closure and bail-out strategies |
6. Conduction abnormalities after TAVI |
7. Early mobilization and discharge |
Challenging access for TAVI: Case-based learning |
Welcome and learning objectives |
Case presentation and recorded case: lithotripsy |
Case presentation and recorded case: orbital atherectomy |
Panel discussion on facilitated transfemoral TAVI |
Case presentation and recorded case: trans-caval |
Panel discussion on trans-caval TAVI |
Case presentation and recorded case: trans-carotid |
Panel discussion on trans-carotid TAVI |
Case presentation and recorded case: trans-axillary |
Panel discussion on trans-axillary TAVI |
Life-time management of aortic stenosis |
Welcome and learning objectives |
Case presentation: younger age, small annulus |
Panel discussion: start the journey with SAVR or TAVI? |
Considerations for SAVR in small aortic annuli (patient-prosthesis mismatch, durability, mortality) |
How to avoid PPM after SAVR (root enlargement) |
Long-term planning when choosing surgical bioprosthetic valve (risk of coronary obstruction, valve fracturing) |
Considerations for THV-in-SAV (chimney stenting, leaflet modification, valve fracturing) |
Durability of THVs (durability data on THVs) |
Considerations for TAVR in small aortic annuli (THV design and hemodynamic) |
Long-term planning when choosing transcatheter bioprosthetic valve (surgical explant of THV, risk of coronary obstruction after THV-in-THV) |
Considerations for THV-in-THV (neo-skirt height, leaflet overhang) |
Panel discussion |
Air embolism to the brain during TAVI - a relevant problem? |
