  • Understand how to use CT scan to select size and type of TAVR valve
  • Learn how to assess calcium score
  • Identify C-arm angulation for implantation of device (3 cusp, cusp overlap)

H.O.W - HEART DISSECTION WOWRKSHOP (SUPPORTED BY OCCLUTECH)

Learning objectives:

1 - Understand and recognize the anatomy of the atrial septum

  • Corroborate and correlate the anatomy of the septum with transesophageal and intracardiac echocardiography
  • Understand the nuances of device placement in the atrial septum
  • Recognize the differences between ASD and PFO and identify simple versus complex defects
  • Deploy device in the atrial septum understand and recognize the device relationship to surrounding structure on the left and right atrial side

2 - Understand and recognize the anatomy of the ventricular septum

  • Recognize the intricacies of the membranous septum
  • Know the course of the AV node and understand the risk of heart block associated with membranous VSD closure
  • Understand the three-dimensional nature of the ventricular septum and different types of muscular VSD
  • Learn and deploy different types of VSD devices and know their complications

3 - Learn about para-valvar leak closure and know anatomical description of the paravalvar leaks

4 - Learn about PDA devices. Know different types of devices available for closure
