CSI Focus Workshop

MITRAL VALVE INTERVENTIONS

THURSday, june 23, 2022

Percutaneous treatment of valvular heart disease is one of the fastest developing areas in cardiology and an array of new techniques and options for mitral valve repair and replacement have become available in recent years. To master this complex field, in-depth knowledge of the latest research, emerging tools, devices and techniques is essential.

CSI Focus: Mitral Valve Interventions on June 23 will begin with a look at mitral valve intervention in mitral valve stenosis, including intervention for rheumatic mitral stenosis as well as valve in mitral annular calcification. We will then discuss the increasing number of transcatheter mitral leaflet repair techniques, including the latest data, available devices, their indications for use and how they may be implanted. Next the increasing number of transcatheter mitral valve replacement techniques will be explored, with an update in the growing experience of valve in valve and valve in ring approaches as well as the new valve in native valve technologies.

Drop in for one day to attend the full-day Mitral valve interventions workshop or take advantage of the opportunity to stay for the full 4-day congress featuring a wide range of topics in the field of congenital, structural and valvar heart disease interventions.

PRELIMINARY PROGRAM - MITRAL VALVE INTERVENTIONS FOCUS WORKSHOP

developed by: Ralph Stephan von Bardeleben & Martin Swaans

Secondary mitral valve disease – one entity or many
Live transmission from MZV Prof. Mathey, Prof. Schofer, Hamburg, Germany: The COAPT like patient
Recorded case: The Non-COAPT like patient
Secondary mitral valve disease: three different aetiologies!

Three decades of mitral valve repair: the surgeon has all the data and experience

  • Nobody competes with my knowledge
  • I can compete!

Treatment focus?

  • Longer life
  • Better life
Should we treat secondary mitral regurgitation earlier?
Mitral valve treatment pathways in view of recent guidelines
Live case transmission from Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, Netherlands

A – My patient with primary mitral valve regurgitation

  • What do the US and ESC guidelines say?
  • Treatment controversies: a patient with P2 prolapse: Patient 1: A frail 50-year-old?
  • Treatment controversies: a patient with P2 prolapse: Patient 2: A healthy 80-year-old?

B – My patient with secondary mitral valve regurgitation

  • What do the US and ESC guidelines say?
  • Treatment controversies: a patient with heart failure and MR - Patient 1: An ischemic young patient
  • Treatment controversies: a patient with heart failure and MR - Patient 2: An 80-year old with chronic atrial fibrillation and HFpEF

Innovations in mitral valve treatment: two debates

  • The MAC debate
    • MAC is difficult, but I can deal with it!
    • Yes, you can deal with it, but I have safer options
  • The 2030 debate
    • Surgery!
    • Interventions!
