CSI FOCUS WORKSHOP:
NEONATAL INTERVENTIONS
This full day workshop will take place on the first day of CSI Frankfurt, the leading congress on catheter interventions in congenital, structural and valvar heart disease. Attend this workshop for a review of the latest techniques in neonatal interventions. Sessions will include a series of lectures based around clinical scenarios to encourage discussion and to focus on how you and your teams can achieve the best results in these small and delicate patients.
Key Details:
- Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2020
- Location: Congress Center Messe Frankfurt
- For participants of all levels
- Early bird registration discount is available until March 6, 2020: Register now
SESSION 1: TECHNIQUES
Vascular access:
-
core techniques and avoiding complications
-
advanced techniques (transseptal, transhepatic, hybrid) and avoiding complications
Balloon atrial septostomy-alternative approaches now that the Miller balloon has been withdrawn
Pulmonary valvoplasty - getting it right first time, tips and tricks
Complex pulmonary artery stenosis in the neonate-decision making and approach
Discussion
SESSION 2: HIGH RISK INTERVENTIONS
An institutional approach to high risk interventions in infants less than 2 kg.
Early post-operative interventions in neonates - how early is safe?
Quality initiatives around high-risk interventions in neonates – which ones actually help?
Do hybrid approaches in smaller infants reduce risk?
Interventionalist know thyself – understanding decision making in high risk interventions
Increasing complexity, morbidly and death. Are we psychologically prepared?
Discussion
SESSION 3: NEONATAL PALLIATION
Recorded / Live case transmissions
Anatomic considerations with reference to RVOT stenting
RVOT stenting techniques and equipment
The 5 most important things I've learnt stenting the RVOT
Relative risks of neonatal palliation - how “equal" are the options?
Anesthesia - working together to make neonatal palliation as safe as possible
If there is a choice which is better - a duct or an RVOT stent?
The surgical view:
-
I prefer an RVOT stent
-
I don't want an RVOT stent
So is that it - have interventional cardiologists solved neonatal palliation?
Discussion
SESSION 4: CHALLENGING CASE-BASED NEONATAL INTERVENTIONS
Recorded / Live case transmissions
2.9 kg infant with critical aortic valve stenosis and unicuspid aortic valve
2.1 kg infant with pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum
1.5 kg symptomatic infant with 5mm PDA
3.9 kg symptomatic post-arterial switch with moderate-sized low muscular VSD
3 kg infant with HLHS and Intact IAS
2.5 kg infant with symptomatic Tetralogy of Fallot and small serpiginous PDA
Discussion
