10.00 – 11.30    Everything you need to know about LAA closure

Learning objectives: The workshop will provide an overview of all there is to know about LAA implantation. Hands-on simulators will be available to participants and the following topics will be covered:


  • Anatomical requirements for LAA closure
  • Determination of the optimal LAA closure device
  • Prevention of complications
  • Management of complications
  • TEE, ICE and CT pre-procedural imaging
  • Tips and tricks for successful LAA closure with Watchman, LARIAT and other impending US LAA closure devices

Use of hands-on simulators will be available

11.30 – 12.00    The “Nuts and bolts” of imaging with TEE and ICE

Learning objectives: Learn how to obtain TEE and ICE images for standard procedures including PFO/ASD closure, trans-septal catherization, valve replacement/repair procedures, LAA closure, assess pericardial function and ruling out pericardial effusions.

12.00 – 12.45    How to safely perform transseptal and pericardial access

Learning objectives:


  • Get to know anatomical structures to allow safe transseptal catherization and pericardial access.
  • Learn step-by-step approach for transseptal and pericardial access
  • The faculty will share “tips and tricks” for complicated transseptal and pericardial access
  • Learn how to handle complications
