Prof. Celebi is head and director of Department of Pediatric Cardiology at Dr Siyami Ersek Hospital for Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery in one of the busiest pediatric heart centers in Turkey and Europe. Each year, the team at the pediatric heart center performs more than 800 cardiac catheterizations (mostly interventional), excess of 900 surgeries and about 15.000 echocardiographic examinations at outpatient clinics in infants, children and young adults with congenital heart disease.

Between 2004-2014, near >800 ASD closure, >700 PDA closure, about 130 VSD closure have been performed in the same center as Dr Celebi is the primary operator in most or otherwise supervisor in all.

After completing an internal medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif., he completed a cardiology fellowship and postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry and molecular biology at Stanford University, where he earned a Physician Scientist Award and the Upjohn Young Investigator Award in cardiology. Lee subspecialized in cardiac electrophysiology during his second fellowship at UCSF.
His research focuses on cellular and molecular aspects of cardiac arrhythmias and vascular regeneration. He is investigating the cellular and molecular derangements that occur during cardiac arrhythmias and myocardial infarctions. Lee uses genetic engineering techniques to investigate derangements during cardiac arrhythmias and myocardial infarctions and as possible therapeutic tools. Lee also is interested in cardiac development of the conduction system and the means to alter conduction, which then may be applied to diseased states.
